Paneer butter masala is a popular Indian dish. The simple method of making it is as follows

Ingredients:
250 grams paneer (cut into cubes)
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon oil
2 large onions (finely chopped)
6 large tomatoes (puree made)
1 green chili (chopped)
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
10 kaaju
1/2 cup cream
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon kasuri methi (ground)
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves (for garnishing)

Method:
- Prepare onion and tomato puree:
Heat oil in a pan and add onion and fry till golden brown. Or add kaaju dal
Add ginger-garlic paste to it and mix well.
When the onion cools down, grind it in a mixer and make a paste.
In the same pan, add tomato puree and cook till it thickens.
- Prepare the gravy:
Heat butter in a pan and add onion paste to it.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and mix well.
Add tomato puree and cook till the mixture releases oil.
- Add paneer and spices:
Add paneer pieces and mix gently so that the paneer does not break.
Add garam masala and kasuri methi.
Add 1/2 cup water and let it cook on low flame for a few minutes.
- Add cream and cook:
Add cream and mix well.
Cook on low flame for 5 minutes so that all the spices are well combined.
- Garnish and serve:
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve hot paneer butter masala with naan, roti or rice.
Notes:
Paneer can be lightly fried if you like it a little crispy.
Before adding the kasuri methi, crush it between your palms to enhance its aroma and flavour.
You can also add cashew paste to make the gravy creamier.
